The Sanctuary Lamp is a sign of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. This is our reminder that Jesus is in the tabernacle, and all who enter into God’s house should act and dress in a way that respects the living Lord Jesus.
It is from the Ambo that the Word of God is proclaimed and the Priest gives the homily.
The altar rail serves several purposes. It separates the sanctuary from the nave of the church, establishing that the sanctuary is the holy of holies. It is the area where the Sacrifice of Christ takes place in the Holy Mass. The altar rail also affords the possibility for the people of God to received Holy Communion kneeling.
