CCA Update
On March 1st we began the Catholic Charity Appeal in our parish. This annual diocesan appeal supports the many programs and services that provide assistance to those most in need of our help.
We have raised $15,450 of our Parish Goal $34,913 (44%)
Keep the Heat On is a vital winter assistance program of the Diocese of Providence that ensures no one in Rhode Island is left without heat during the coldest months of the year. It is specifically designed to help individuals and families who fall through the cracks—those who may not qualify for government assistance, yet still struggle to afford rising heating costs.
The program is administered in close collaboration with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, whose trained volunteers meet directly with those in need. These volunteers often conduct personal visits or careful assessments to verify circumstances, ensuring that aid is distributed responsibly, compassionately, and effectively.
Assistance is typically provided in the form of direct payments to fuel and utility companies, helping to:
- Prevent heat shutoffs
- Restore heat when it has already been lost
- Support emergency fuel deliveries
The program primarily serves:
- The elderly on fixed incomes
- The disabled
- Working families facing unexpected hardship
- Individuals experiencing temporary financial crises
Keep the Heat On is funded largely through the Catholic Charity Appeal and private donations, making it a concrete expression of Christian charity in action. It reflects the Church’s mission to care for the most vulnerable, especially during times when the lack of heat can become a serious threat to health and safety.
In a very real sense, this program does more than provide financial help—it brings hope, dignity, and the reassurance that no one is forgotten.
