What’s in a name?

Choose the name of our new Adoration Chapel and Open House, following all Masses next weekend (April 9-10, 2011).

Next week, we will name our new Adoration Chapel.  If you didn’t read the Pastor’s Corner, download it here.

Everyone has a name, and every name has a meaning.  Most people don’t know what their name means.  For example, it is not completely certain what the name Mary means.  Among one of the possible meanings is “wished for child.”  However the origin is to be an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry “beloved” or mr “love”.  All which express the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  She was the long, awaited mother of the messiah, and He is the Beloved of God the Father, and the love of God’ incarnate.

Thinking of names, I believe it is important to name our soon to be Adoration Chapel. I have prayed and thought about this for a while and would like you to help me choose the name.  Below are the three names that came to me, but don’t choose one right now!  Take them home with you, pray at least one Hail Mary each day and ask our Blessed Mother to guide us all in choosing the name she desires.  The three names I will ask you to choose from are: 1) “Our Lady of the Angels”, 2) “Our Lady, Queen of Peace”, and lastly  3) “Our Lady of the New Advent”.

Please say one Hail Mary (or more if you wish) each day for the success of our Adoration Chapel.

God bless,
Fr. Finelli
