54 Day Rosary Novena – Day 52

Day 52

She is the first fruits after her Son to share in the resurrection. For Our Lady, “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory” Pius XII. The Blessed Virgin along with Our Lord are the only two who have their risen bodies in heaven. Our Lord rose from the tomb by His very on power, Our Lady by her Son’s power. some may say this dogma takes away from Christ. However, like every Marian dogma, the Assumption only points out the power of Jesus Christ. Mary did not Assume into heaven by her own power. It is the power of God that took her up. the Assumption of Mary is also for us. Where Our Lady has gone, we hope one day to follow. The Virgin Mary is a foretaste of our future glory. Each one of us, who are faithful to Christ, will after the resurrection of the dead live in heaven with our body and soul. We see in Mary, the dignity of the human body. Although hers did not decay, our bodies will be raised up from the decay cause by our human death to be reunited with our soul in God’s kingdom. In the Assumption, Mary is our hope for future glory, because she has already experienced what we long for and await in joyful hope.

Quotes:

“Therefore the Virgin is immortal to this day, seeing that he who had dwelt in her transported her to the regions of her assumption” – Timothy of Jerusalem

“And from that time forth all knew that the spotless and precious body had been transferred to paradise” – John the Theologian

“And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars … And there were given to the woman two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the desert unto her place, where she is nourished.” – Revelations 12:1, 14

“One day, through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our lady will save the world.” – St. Dominic

“And with regard to ourselves, how deservedly do we keep the feast of the Assumption with all solemnity. What reasons for rejoicing, what motives for exultation have we on this most beautiful day! The presence of Mary illumines the entire world so that even the holy city above has now a more dazzling splendor from the light of this virginal Lamp. With good reason thanksgiving and the voice of praise resound today throughout the courts of Heaven…let us not complain for here we do not have a lasting city, but we seek one that is to come, the same which the blessed Mary entered today.”  – St. Bernard of Clairvaux

“The Immaculate alone has from God the promise of victory over Satan. She seeks souls that will consecrate themselves entirely to her, that will become in her hands forceful instruments for the defeat of Satan and the spread of God’s kingdom.” – St. Maximillian Kolbe
