54 Day Rosary Novena – Day 35

Day 35

Any solid devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary includes devotion to the Holy Spirit. And any person that has a devotion to the Holy Spirit should not neglect the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Holy Spirit and Mary have a unique spousal relationship that was designed by God Himself. Through the the gift of her Immaculate Conception, she was wed to the Holy Spirit. This beautiful dogma was defined by Pope Pis IX in 1854 four years before Our Lady introduced  herself to Bernadette at Lourdes with this title on 28 March 1858. The doctrine holds much more than the fact that Our Lady “was preserved immaculate from all stain of original sin.” It means that she IS in perfect creation of Almighty God. “I am,” not I was the Immaculate Conception. Saint Maximillian Kobe writes that this is an ongoing, or active grace. Demonstrating her union with the Holy Spirit. Our Lady, says St. Maximillian is the “created Immaculate Conception,” and the Holy Spirit is the “uncreated Immaculate Conception,” creating a nuptial bond between them from the moment of her conception. So, where’re thermos the Holy Spirit, there is Mary, and where there is Mary, there is the Holy Spirit. Our union with, consecration to Our Lady, leads us to a deeper communion with the Holy Spirit. She points us as she did with her Son to “do whatever He tells you.” We are to fine tune the ears of our souls to the movements of the Holy Spirit and act on them.

Quotes:

“In the Holy Spirit’s union with Mary we observe more than the love of two beings; in one there is all the love of the Blessed Trinity; in the other, all of creation’s love. So it is that in this union heaven and earth are joined; all of heaven with all the earth, the totality of eternal love with the totality of created love. It is truly the summit of love.” — St. Maximillian Kolbe

“In what does this life of the Sprit in Mary consist? He himself is uncreated Love in her; the Love of the Father and of the Son, the Love by which God loves himself, the very love of the Most Holy Trinity. He is a fruitful Love, a “Conception.” Among creatures made in God’s image the union brought about by married love is the most intimate of all (cf. Mt. 19,6). In a much more precise, more interior, more essential manner, the Holy Spirit lives in the soul of the Immaculata, in the depths of her very bring. He makes her fruitful, from the very first instant of her existence, all during her life, and for all eternity.” St. Maximillian Kolbe

“When in the Rosary we plead with Mary, the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit (cf. Lk 1:35), she intercedes for us before the Father who filled her with grace and before the Son born of her womb, praying with us and for us.” – St. John Paul II, Rosarium Virginis Mariae 16

“Because of this gift of sublime grace she far surpasses all creatures, both in heaven and on earth.” – Lumen Gentium 53

“Mary was made Mother of God to obtain salvation for many who, on account of their wicked lives, could not be saved according to the rigor of Divine justice, but might be saved with the help of her sweet mercy and powerful intercession.” – St. John Chrysostom

“Mary is the image and model of the Church which, accompanied by the Spirit, advances through time invoking the glorious return of Christ: ‘Come, Lord Jesus.’” – Pope Benedict XVI

“Mary was that only one who merited to be called the Mother and Spouse of God.” – St. Augustine
