54 Day Rosary Novena – Day 16

16th Day

The Blessed Virgin Mary has long been venerated as Mediatrix of all graces. But what does this mean? Our Lord is the only Savior of the world, and Our Lady adds nothing to what He has doen. He alone has power to save us from our sins and bring us to eternal life. Yes, in His great generosity to save all souls, He shares this power with His closest collaborator His Mother. We are given a premonition of this role during Our Lord’s presentation in the temple. “Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” Lk 2:34-25. As we call upon Our Lady, we pray Hail Mary “full of grace.” From the first moment of her Immaculate Conception, thenVirgin Mary was mad the perfect vessel of the Holy Spirit. St. Maximilian Kolbe called Our Lady the crated Immaculate Conception and the Holy Spirit the uncreated Immaculate Conception. As the spouse of the Holy Spirit, she is perfectly united to the will of God that she would only grant graces and petitions to the faithful in accordance with that perfect plan.

Quotes:

‘Every grace that is communicated to this world has a threefold course. For by excellent order, it is dispensed from God to Christ, from Christ to the Virgin, from the Virgin to us.’ — St. Bernardine of Siena

God has deposited in Mary the fullness of all that is good. So if we have any hope, any grace, any salvation, we should realize that it all comes to us through Mary. — St. Bernard of Clairvaux
St. Bernard fittingly remarks that Mary is “the ‘channel’ or, even, the neck, through which the body is joined to the head, and likewise through which the head exerts its power and strength on the body.” — St. Bernard of Clarvoux

we know also that all things are imparted to us from God the Greatest and Best, through the hands of the Mother of God. — Pius XI

The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary

Prayer before the recitation: Sign of the cross. Hail Mary.

In petition (first 27 days): Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow white buds to remind thee of thy joys, each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery, each 10 bound together with my petition for a particular grace. O Holy Queen, dispenser of God’s graces, and Mother of all who invoke thee, thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding. As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my petition; from thy bounty thou wilt give me the favor I so earnestly and trustingly seek. I despair of nothing that I ask of thee. Show thyself my Mother!
