“Day of Evangelization

On Saturday, March 26, 2011 we will have a special “Day of Evangelization”.  The day is being organized by our Legion of Mary.  This is not the first event of it’s kind.

We will be the third parish in our diocese to host such an event.  The Day’s held at the two other parishes are bearing great fruit – people are returning to Mass and Confession, others are gaining a new understanding of our Catholic Faith, and people who have experienced a rupture with the Church are coming home to the Catholic Church.

The Day will begin with Mass at 8:00 AM in the church, followed by breakfast and an instructional meeting.  Participants will be sent out in pairs to the different neighborhoods in the parish territory, visiting homes with a welcoming packet containing a letter from the Pastor, a parish bulletin, Catholic literature and religious articles as a gift to each home visited.  While some people may not be able to make visits, they can support the efforts by spending some time praying in our church.

The Day will conclude with lunch and a time for sharing experiences from the day.  Our goal is to cover the homes on every street in our parish boundaries!

This weekend there will be an insert in the bulletin asking for volunteers in the parish who are willing to do the home visitations or other necessary tasks. People will be in the narthex to answer questions and take sign-up sheets.

Please prayerfully consider taking part in helping people in our community draw close to Christ and His Church!
